A recent example of StreetBondSR Solar Reflective Coating for Asphalt
This application in Toronto is in two new Canada Post outlets recently completed in the city. StreetBondSR was used in conjunction with StreetPrint – Genuine Stamped Asphalt to treat the projects hardscape surfaces. Combined, they create both hardscapes in conformance with the TGS but also decorative hardscape areas for attractive and safe pedestrian channelization with the roadways and parking lots.
Toronto’s Green Building Standard (TGS) is a two-tier set of environmental performance measures that facilitates sustainable new development in Toronto. This standard is applied to new developments within the city an is designed to align with LEED® Canada for new construction under the mandatory green building requirements.
TGS requires that all mid-high rise and institutional, commercial and industrial (ICI) buildings be designed to achieve energy efficiency of 25% – 35% better than the Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB). New construction goals are set to improve air quality, which includes reduction of Urban Heat Island Effect, with the objective to reduce ambient surface temperature to improve human health and comfort.
StreetBondSR – Solar Reflective Coatings for Asphalt incorporates specialized characteristics that reduce Urban Heat Island Effect by minimizing the amount of solar energy absorbed by pavement surfaces. It is a LEED® Canada compliant solution used increasingly on construction projects throughout Toronto to facilitate their compliance with TGS by exceeding LEED® Canada requirement for a high albedo surface material by realizing initial reflectance of at least 0.3 or SRI of 29.
