Asphalt Sealcoating StreetBondSR Solar Reflective Characteristics Facilitate Sustainable Hardscape Design
Asphalt sealcoating StreetbondSR™ for keeping asphalt pavement surfaces such as parking lots and playgrounds cool and comfortable can contribute to project LEED® credits.
StreetBondSR™ solar reflective characteristics reduce Urban Heat Island Effect by minimizing the amount of solar energy absorbed by asphalt pavement surfaces such as parking lots and playgrounds. Reducing Heat Island Effect helps minimize the impact on micro-climate through the use of asphalt hardscape surfacing material with high solar reflectance.
StreetBondSR™ Reduces Urban Heat Island Effect
Pavement surfaces are a leading cause of Urban Heat Island Effect contributing roughly 30-40% of the urban footprint. Reducing Heat Island Effect lowers energy consumption and can cut air conditioning bills up to 33%.i Not to mention, cooler pavements mean safer more comfortable pavements as well.
Cooler Pavements Mean Safer More Comfortable Pavements
Available in a range of both light and dark colours, asphalt sealcoating StreetBondSR™ can contribute LEED® credits to sustainable construction projects and is an ideal and affordable solution for green hardscape design. StreetBondSR™ can be used on untextured asphalt or as the colour treatment component for StreetPrint – Genuine Stamped Asphalt.
StreetBondSR can contribute LEED credits under the following categories:
1. Sustainable Sites (S Sc7.1) – Heat Island Effect – Non-Roof
2. Green Neighbourhood Development – Green Infrastructure and Buildings – Heat Island Reduction (GIB Credit 9)
One credit can be realized through the use of surface materials which have a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 28 or higher applied to at least 50% of the sites total hardscape including parking lots, roads, sidewalks and courtyards.
What is Solar Reflectance?
The solar reflectance index (SRI) is a measure of a material’s ability to reject solar heat, as shown by a small temperature rise. Standard black is 0 and standard white is 100. For example, a standard black surface has a temperature rise of 90°F (50°C) in full sun, and a standard white surface has a temperature rise of 14.6°F (8.1°C). Once the maximum temperature rise of a given material has been computed, the SRI can be calculated by interpolating between the values.
StreetBondSR™ – LEED® ideal for making asphalt parking lots, school playgrounds, park playgrounds or any other asphalt pavement surface solar reflective
All the Features and Benefits of StreetBond150™ with Specialized Characteristics
StreetBondSR™ contributes to sustainable hardscape design by helping keep asphalt pavement surfaces cool, more comfortable and looking new and clean.
Asphalt pavement surfaces are a leading cause of Urban Heat Island Effect contributing roughly 30-40% of the urban footprint. Reducing Heat Island Effect lowers energy consumption and can potentially cut air conditioning bills up to 33%i. Not to mention, cooler pavements mean safer more comfortable pavements as well.
Parking lots and playgrounds comprise a large portion of this urban footprint. StreetBondSR™ has specialized solar reflective characteristics that help keep parking lot surfaces cooler and can contribute to LEED® credits.
Durable and value priced, StreetBondSR™ – LEED® was developed to help reduce parking lot and playground maintenance and cleaning costs. It is ideal for Canadian climates and is available in a wide range of colours designed to help hide the inevitable soiling and wear & tear asphalt parking lots and playgrounds experience.
Not Only Sustainable Green Parking Lots & Playgrounds – Safer, More Attractive Ones as Well
Create a positive brand experience for your customer or community from the time they arrive in your green parking lot or playground to the time they leave.
StreetBondSR™ can be incorporated into StreetPrint – Genuine Stamped Asphalt or applied to unprinted asphalt. StreetBondSR™ is pedestrian safe, resistant to cracking, peeling and delaminating. It is designed to work in a wide range of wear and weather conditions. Carefully developed, tested and field proven, asphalt sealcoating StreetBondSR™ creates safe, cool and attractive pedestrian channelization as well as entrance ways, courtyards and feature areas.
StreetBondSR™ can contribute LEED® credits under the following categories:
- New Construction (NC) – Sustainable Sites (SSc7.1) – Heat Island Effect – Non-Roof
- Existing Building Operations (EBOM) – Sustainable Sites (SSc7.1) – Heat Island Effect – Non-Roof
- Schools – Sustainable Sites (SSc7.1) – Heat Island Effect – Non-Roof
- Green Neighborhood Development – Green Infrastructure and Buildings – Heat Island Reduction (GIB Credit 9)
One credit can be realized through the use of surface materials which have a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 29 or higher applied to at least 50% of the sites total hardscape including parking lots, playgrounds, roads, sidewalks and courtyards.
